As an Executive in Residence, Randy Eager works with the management teams of start-up technology companies to identify and address critical business issues including intellectual property creation and protection, product development, marketing, sales, fundraising, management recruitment and growth planning.  Some of these high potential enterprises become members of the Innovation Works investment portfolio. For a portfolio company, Randy provides mentoring and network access, and serves as an observer on the board of directors.

Randy Eager has more than 20 years of successful start-up and product commercialization experience, including the selling and marketing of technical products, services, and software to manufacturers and other commercial customers.  Prior to joining Innovation Works, Randy co-founded DesignAdvance Systems, Inc and held the position of CEO while taking the Carnegie Mellon University spin-off company from a vision to successfully raising over $6 million, building a team of 18, and producing product revenue, all in less than 2 years.  Prior to DesignAdvance, Randy was a Licensing Officer at Carnegie Mellon, where he licensed technology to industry and worked with Carnegie Mellon faculty and staff to successfully spin companies out of the university. He has held a board of director position with several Carnegie Mellon-related companies.  Randy also spent seven years with BASF Corporation developing applications with design engineers at computer and automotive OEMs around the world. He has also held a Vice President of Sales and Marketing position at his first start-up, TriTech Group, Inc. and spent five years as a management consultant focused on the development of strategic plans for multiple customers in a variety of industries with General Management Technologies, Inc.

Randy Eager has earned a Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering from Michigan State University and received his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz School of Business.
