Pittsburgh Angel Fund

The Pittsburgh Angel Fund is a unique fund comprising public and private investments formed to increase the amount of capital available for early-stage companies to grow while decreasing the risk for private investors to finance these emerging companies.   Using public investment to defray management costs and attract a high-performance manager, the fund is expected to deliver a favorable ROI for its limited partners while also providing seed-stage financing to the region’s most promising startups.

With a combination of investments from Innovation Works, the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development and angels, the fund was modeled after a handful of other successful seed-stage funds in the country with the goal of stimulating even greater angel activity in the Pittsburgh region.
