Laurie joined The Resumator, a Social HR company, in January 2012 as the head of marketing to drive new customer acquisition for their cloud-based hiring platform. Previously, Laurie spent four years with The Art Institutes /EDMC as Vice President of Marketing & Advertising with a focus on direct response lead generation and digital strategy. Laurie also spent six years with American Eagle Outfitters in digital marketing to drive multi-channel traffic and sales. She received her MBA from The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.

Babs Carryer is an adjunct professor at the Don Jones Center for Entrepreneurship in Tepper School of Business, Heinz College, and Carnegie Institute of Technology. She is an embedded entrepreneur for Project Olympus and an innovation advisor at Heinz College. Babs co-founded LaunchCyte LLC, is President of Carryer Consulting, and was a past director of deal flow for BlueTree Allied Angels.

Dave Checkan, CEO of HIFI

Dave Chekan has founded several web companies over the last decade and as an undergrad studying Computer Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh was a member of the NCIIA (National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Association) exhibiting an invention at the Smithsonian American History Museum.  He founded Liberated Syndication (libsyn.com) the world's largest podcast publishing platform, in 2004 and served as CEO until it's sale in 2007.  It has delivered audio and video podcasts to over 20 million unique users a month and has supports billions of downloads every year.  Prior to starting libsyn, Dave developed several music related web applications for 20th Century Fox, Pearl Drums, and many major label recording artists.  Inspired by the events of 9/11, Dave served his country as a research analyst for the Department of Defense working in the intelligence community.  Dave is currently developing a new startup which aims to deliver an improved streaming music experience to everyone who loves to listen to and make music.

Frank Demmler, VP of Entrepreneurial Executives at Innovation Works

Frank Demmler heads up IW's internal entrepreneurial executive group. Mr. Demmler has more than 25 years experience advising both entrepreneurs and angel investors having worked with over 2,000 entrepreneurial efforts, leading to the formation of over 400 companies. Before coming to Innovation Works, Mr. Demmler served as Associate Teaching Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Donald H. Jones Center for Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, where he remains as an adjunct professor.

Steven Fleck is the Cofounder and Chief Technology Officer of ClearCount. Steven previously worked for Boehringer Laboratories, a medical device manufacturing firm in Philadelphia, in product development where he was responsible for several new products from conception to commercial release. Steve has an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and a degree in Applied Physics and Bioengineering from Cornell University.

At AlphaLab, Mike works closely with AlphaLab companies to help formulate their product and business strategies.  Mike also assists with managing the technical resources at AlphaLab. Prior to joining the AlphaLab team of Innovation Works, Mike served as an information systems technologist for the Pittsburgh Technology Council. His previous employment experience includes Pittsburgh-based Yanni Partners where he served as a Manager of Information Systems and Unisys Corporation in Blue Bell, PA as a senior consultant. He is also a co-founder of Pittsburgh Bloggers and is a volunteer organizer with Podcamp Pittsburgh.
