What makes you the best person for your role?
I’ve been working in software my entire career starting way back at BBN, the company that built the first Internet backbone. I’ve seen how transformative software can be in businesses and I love helping entrepreneurs apply software to problems they’re passionate to solve. I also have a lot of empathy for entrepreneurs – I was previously the CTO of an Education Technology startup here in the region, so I understand the challenges, struggles, and joys of founding a company.
What is your favorite thing about working with startups?
In most industries you mainly work with people with a similar background, but entrepreneurs come from all different backgrounds and have so many unique experiences. My favorite thing about working with startups is learning about their inspirations and listening to their stories.
What do you love about living and working in Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh has been a great place for us to raise a family – property values have always been reasonable, the parks, and museums are world-class, and the city is close to so many unique locations.
Where can we find you outside of work?
I live near a few parks and have been a runner and triathlete for a number of years, so I try to get outdoors for exercise as much as possible. I also spend time mentoring people transitioning into software development careers. Over the years I’ve worked with Code.org, Women in Tech Pittsburgh, and Vets Who Code.
