What makes you the best person for your role?
In my role at Innovation Works, I write and manage grants that support the organization’s work to invest in startup companies, provide strategic business support, and promote access to entrepreneurship. Prior to Innovation Works, I was the Associate Director of Institutional Partnerships and Development at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, where I wrote grants raising over $17 million in three years towards operations, special projects, and new strategic initiatives. My work secured funding for accessible education programs; Community Youth Scholarships; the acquisition of a mobile stage and launch of the Open Air Series performing arts festival; the completion of the $6 million Live Music Appeal; and the forthcoming design and build of a new production of The Nutcracker, including a sensory-friendly design. Before Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, I was the Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Advancement at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, where I raised unrestricted operating support across the four museums and managed the corporate membership program.
What is your favorite thing about working with startups?
My favorite thing about working with startups is listening to the company founders speak passionately about their idea, technology, or product. They are developing solutions that will shape the world we live in. It’s like seeing a preview of the future.
What do you love about living and working in Pittsburgh?
The city is flourishing and transforming quickly. I am from Pittsburgh, so I love to see the new and the old coexist together and create a better place. Pittsburgh is full of oddities and neighborhood gems that give the city its unique charm.
Where can we find you outside of work?
I enjoy outdoor activities and playing music.
