Business Development Relationship Manager
Robert Young serves as the Business Development Relationships Manger at IW. In this role, Robert supports all fundraising efforts for the organization, fosters partnerships and alliances within the local and national economic development sectors. He also advocates for effective economic development policy in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C., and builds collaborative relationships with national agencies, local and national foundations and the corporate community.
Prior to joining IW, Robert was the Managing Director of The Advanced Leadership Initiative (TALI). TALI has a vision to dramatically improve the regional presence of African Americans in executive leadership roles, helping to create a more diverse, inclusive and prosperous community. To achieve this vision, TALI supports the development and implementation of an executive education program to build the pipeline of African American executive leadership in the Pittsburgh region.
Robert previously held the role of Account Executive and Broker of Commercial Lines with Simpson |McCrady. Prior to joining the Simpson | McCrady agency he worked with the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence as the Community and Business Development member for the University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute. Additionally, he has served in the roles of Director of Development for Coro Pittsburgh, Associate Director of Development & Alumni Affairs for Temple University College of Education, Director of UF MBA Alumni Relations at the University of Florida, and Alumni Council Coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh.
Robert is proudly an Indiana, PA native. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where he was selected as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar and completed his master’s degree in Higher Education Administration at the University of Pittsburgh.
Robert’s passion and commitment to Pittsburgh is expressed through his work and life. His mission is to serve, guide, and challenge the individual organizations and colleagues who he is fortunate to work with. He is a dedicated volunteer and board member to the Holy Family Institute, Family Resources, Gwen’s Girls, and the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership among many others.
